Floating Docks & Fingers
Whether you’re a local marina or resident, no dock is complete without a floating dock attachment. Charleston Dock Doctors LLC constructs and installs custom floating docks and boarding fingers. Get right to the water level, no matter what that level might be. Large floating platforms can be amazing entertaining areas or excellent spots for children to play your neighbors will be jealous of. Long floating fingers can give every captain full access to the entire side of their vessel no matter how big or small. Seawalls, Pond Walls, Bulkheads
Erosion is an issue anywhere there is water and the ponds and tidal zones of Charleston, Mount Pleasant, James Island, and John’s Island are no different. Building a marine wall along a pond, river, or seaside is a fantastic way to gain back lost ground. Raising a seawall to a desired elevation can turn an unusable sloping backyard into a level pitch perfectly primed for children at play or immaculate landscaping. Riverbank eroding into your yard? A seawall can create a hard bank protecting your property and often your neighbor’s by diverting water elsewhere.
Boat Lifts & Kayak Launches
Water lovers are everywhere from Edisto Beach to Awendaw with each of them knowing how much effort launching boats via a trailer can be. Same goes for lugging that bulky kayak or stand-up paddleboard out of the garage every time you want to have an enjoyable paddle. Charleston Dock Doctors LLC can install all types of boat lifts from James Island to Mount Pleasant and has years of experience in building custom kayak launches. You’ll be able to leave it where you park it, where the boat or kayak will be waiting for you next time you want to enjoy it.
Elevated Piers & Pierheads
Stono River, Wando River, Ashley River, and the Edisto River are full of beautiful marshland that makes the lowcountry what it is. For any of us lucky enough to be living on these beautiful rivers, it often means that the waterfront isn’t quite on our doorstep. This may be the case, but it doesn’t have to prevent the residents of James Island, John’s Island, Mount Pleasant, and Charleston from having access to the water. Long elevated piers stretching out to the waterline from the yard allow us to walk above the marsh out to the shoreline. Capping these often-photographed piers with an ornate or functional pierhead can create a getaway space at home. Any level of customization is at your disposal with Charleston Dock Doctors LLC, so ask about dual railings, water & lighting, fish-cleaning stations, benches and picnic tables. Pierheads often pair well with covered boat lifts.
Boardwalks & Walkways
Folly Beach, James Island, Sullivan’s Island and other beaches all across the Charleston, SC area overlook sand dunes or tidal marshes. Spiky sand burrs or waves of fiddler crabs can be a nuisance, but who wants to wear shoes when they’re on the way to dipping their toes in the water? An elevated walkway out to a dock or deck can be a great way to stay above nature while still remaining immersed in it. Boardwalks along a seawall can be a perfect way to create dramatic views while adding to the function of your seawall. Imagine enjoying wine over or fishing off of a cantilevered deck that accents your seawall, transforming function into fashion.

We can design you the perfect deck or use your pre-existing dream design to construct an unforgettable outdoor space for you and your family to enjoy.
Maintenance & Repairs
Docks, pierheads, and seawalls are really only expected to last 15 to 20 years maximum in the Charleston area that includes Edisto Beach, John’s Island, James Island, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, and parts of West Ashley. Due to seasonal storms, hurricanes, and brackish conditions, marine construction often needs maintenance or repairs sooner than that. Charleston Dock Doctors LLC, can salvage and repair existing docks, decks, pierheads, seawalls, and pond walls if you’re not ready for a full tear-out and rebuild. A common maintenance is the replacing of deck boards on long walkways or piers. Deck boards are a less-treated lumber by regulation and usually begin to rot in half the time as the rest of the structure. This is a great time for Charleston Dock Doctors LLC to check other structural elements such as headers and stringers so you can feel confident moving forward.
Tear-out & Demolition
Sometimes it’s just too far gone! Seasonal storms can hit John’s Island, James Island, West Ashley, Folly Beach and Isle of Palms hard leaving nothing left to repair. If the hurricanes didn’t finish it off, then maybe Father Time did. People have been in the Charleston area for a long time and Charleston Dock Doctors LLC understands that often means demolition and tear-out is involved in most new builds. We make this a quick and concise process and aim to preserve as much as your existing yard space as possible. Let our crew get down and dirty before you hire someone else, as old marine products can often contain harsh chemicals that require special attention.
