Charleston Dock Doctors LLC was formed in January 2023 amongst three longtime friends who all found themselves contracting in Marine Construction. Working separately within the industry and then together as a team under another outfit, the three saw room for improvement industry-wide and set out on their own venture. With over 15 years combined experience Nick Dawson, Oscar Lee Lill Jr., and JP Maderson founded Charleston Dock Doctors LLC with the idea that integrity and reputation can be crafted as finely as the seawalls and docks they build. Attention to detail and hard work ethics coupled with a workplace full of friends genuinely enjoying what they do, brings a unique warm flavor to the crew.

JP Maderson
(Administrative & Sales)
JP brings a lifetime of woodworking as a hobby and a vast diversity of professional experiences to the team that is Charleston Dock Doctors LLC. JP is well traveled, having lived and worked in multiple foreign countries, allowing him to offer unique approaches to problem solving on and off the jobsite. The primary administrative member of the team, JP fills many of the business duties off the worksite, but doesn’t shy away from getting his hands dirty when the task calls for it. In fact, in JP’s free time he enjoys homesteading, farming, and rock climbing. Ask JP about any landscape or horticulture question you may have as well, as this is another passion of his
Oscar Lee Lill Jr.

Known to his childhood friends as Lee, Oscar is the mover and shaker of our crew. Strong as an ox and driven to his core, Oscar manages Charleston Dock Doctors LLC’s resources and coordinates materials for jobs. Oscar’s name on the jobsite is “The Good Foot” because he’s somehow able to apply more force with his foot than the rest of us can with a sledgehammer! Oscar is a beloved member of a huge family and proud owner of six dogs that he’d love to tell you about.
Nick Dawson
(Design & Construction)
Nick is an expert in Marine Construction and has varying types of hands-on experience in the industry for most of his adult life. Whether it’s been rough-water barge operation, tight-spaced heavy equipment jobs, impossible pluff mud, or super-hard subsoils, Nick has seen and conquered it all. . A musician in his free time Nick is known amongst his buddies as a loyal family man, always keeping his son in mind and making time for the loved ones in his life. Nick's other expertise is as an arborist and on just about every job you’ll find him effortlessly scurrying up or across something the rest of us wouldn’t try.
